Chema Chema defaulters risk being sent to jail - BCP

Botswana Congress Party (BCP) parliamentary candidate for Francistown West, Nthusi Chimbise says Botswana’s second city is neglected by the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) government.

“Unlike the BDP government, when given the power to govern, the BCP will ensure that every citizen has a dignified life. Under the BDP government, you are unable to access critical things such as medicine. Our dream as BCP is to see all the residents of Monarch having a decent job,” Chimbise said when addressing a political rally at Monarch in Francistown over the weekend.

Chimbise called upon residents to reject both the BDP and the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC). The passionate politician has got very little regard for the UDC and its affiliate, Botswana Peoples’ Party (BPP), which he dismissed as having long died.

“The BPP does not exist anymore and we have several of its erstwhile activists in the BCP who dumped the moribund party years ago,” Chimbise said, casting aspersions on the credibility of the BPP.

The BPP, which used to be a critical player in Francistown and a dominant actor in Monarch since 1965, has drastically declined. The BCP parliamentary candidate would like the voter to assess his or her own life before voting.

“Your vote should be an approval or rejection of the BDP government’s ability to allocate plots to the people of Francistown including yourself,” Chimbise said.

BCP Activist, Dimpho Mashaba appealed to the electorate to this time around, vote the BCP to change their lives.

“You have always voted the BDP but your lives have not changed and will not change under a BDP government. The levels of unemployment will continue to grow and so will the shortage of critical medications,” Mashaba said.

He added that only a BCP government has got the wherewithal to change the country for the better economically and otherwise. Mashaba castigated the ruling party for failing to create jobs for the people.

“Instead of processing salt and other natural resources here, for example, we export them hence unable to benefit from the jobs emanating from the processing of the raw materials,” the BCP activist pointed out.

Council candidate for Botsalano ward, Odirile Gavu said his party is the only one that means business as it has thus far completed its primary election processes, considering the short period of time before the general elections.

“Not only that, our primaries were very peaceful. We have disciplined and credible candidates. The BCP is ready to lead. If you vote us, we will fully represent your interests,” Gavu,' pledged, adding that the UDC on the other hand, was as useless as the ruling party.

Council candidate for Selolwe ward, Isaac Keleagetse told the people that a BCP government will have better and safer economic and empowerment schemes different from Chema Chema which he said will send defaulters to jail.
