Man drives truck into boss's wife after dismissal

A disgruntled 29-year-old truck driver at Union Town Holdings in Gaborone’s Broadhurst Industrial site allegedly hit his boss' wife with a truck after being handed a letter dismissing him from work.

According to employees close to the scene, the truck driver was handed the dismissal letter by his supervisor, but on receiving it, he allegedly got into the truck and drove it into the boss' wife, who was not part of the conversation.

Shocked eyewitnesses reported the matter to Broadhurst Police.

Confirming the incident, Broadhurst Police Acting Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Mpho Chanowa stated that investigations into the incident are still ongoing to determine what could have transpired.

"The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is still conducting the case investigations, and the Chinese woman who was allegedly hit was taken to hospital, treated, and released the same day. She is currently recovering at home," she stated.

When asked if the employee had not reported any case of abuse from his employers, Chanowa said she had no concrete information to share, as their investigations are ongoing. She did not say whether the suspect has been arrested or not.
