Mother of three battling for life after failed suicide
A 25-year-old woman is fighting for her life at Jubilee Psychiatric Hospital in Francistown, following a failed suicide attempt. Kachikau Police Station Commander Situme Budane said they received a report on the attempted suicide from a Kachikau Social Worker who had earlier received a report early from the woman’s uncle complaining that his niece was not taking care of her three children aged between three and eight. The woman is said to be in the habit of leaving the children unattended whenever she goes out drinking.
Following the report of child negligence from the victim’s uncle, the social worker initiated an investigation, but failed to locate the mother of three. She was later discovered hanging from the rafters of her house. Luckily she was still alive and was rushed to Kasane Primary Hospital where she was referred to Jubilee Psychiatric Hospital in Francistown for medical assistance. Investigations are ongoing to determine what caused the woman to attempt to take her own life.
