A 26-year-old man from Kgwakgwe in Kanye allegedly committed a shocking crime in Matlholejane cattlepost on Saturday, resulting in the tragic deaths of his great aunt, a family daughter-in-law, as well as himself.

A 40-year-old man residing in the same neighbourhood as the affected family at the cattlepost reported the harrowing incident to the police on Saturday. Startled by screams pleading for help, he rushed to the scene and

discovered a woman soaked in blood, lying helplessly on the ground.

Upon closer inspection, he found another woman nearby, lifeless, with bloodstains. In a panic, the man promptly reported the matter to the police.

The suspect, accused of killing the two women, was not present at the crime scene. According to reports, the suspect later took his own life by consuming a lethal poison.

Details emerging suggest that days before the tragic incident, the suspect sought counsel from his uncles regarding his missing goats.

Eyewitnesses and family members say the suspect confronted his uncles about his missing goats and, fuelled by anger, unleashed violence upon his uncle's wife and great aunt, resulting in their tragic deaths.

The now deceased suspect is said to have had pending cases at the Kanye court for livestock theft and murder by burning a person to death.

Confirming the incident to The Midweek Sun, Station Commander for Sejelo police, Superintendent Mogomotsi Matlapeng, stated that one of the victims, initially found alive at the crime scene, succumbed to gruesome injuries at the Seventh Day Adventist hospital, while the other was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Matlapeng added that the suspect was later discovered in Kgwakgwe, showing signs of poisoning, and ultimately died on the same day.

"All the bodies are supposed to go for post-mortem examinations on Tuesday, while investigations on the matter continues," he said.
