Itreq Inc aims to be the best in tracking everything
It does not always happen that sustainable and profitable businesses are formed from previous personal circumstances.
However, in the instance of Tirelo Moetele, the company he now runs, Itreq Inc, was formed after he experienced a robbery, which as things stand today, ‘was a blessing in disguise’. Itreq is property protection and tracking company based in Gaborone. Sometime in 2019, Moetele was robbed of his valuables-videography and photography equipment, which was never recovered, even with police assistance.
Eager to ensure the painful experience does not repeat, Moetele decided to establish a tracking company, which will not only protect his valuables, but others as well. His initial capital investment on the company was P2100.00, which was used to buy chips to be installed in valuables. Four years down the line, Itreq Inc, which was formed from a shoe-string budget, is now a fully-fledged tracking company which among others track laptops, TV sets, construction equipment, farm equipment among others.
“We have been well received by the market. Our key competitive edge is that, we are the only company that can also track non-electronic goods such as furniture and even your luggage,“ said a confident Moetele, who has a computer science degree from the University Of Botswana (UB).
Most of the company’s clients are based in Gaborone and major towns & villages such as Maun, Kanye and Molepolole. Explaining how they operate once a tracked item is stolen, he said: “We quickly instruct the client to report to the nearest police while we locate the stolen item through our tracking device. We then alert the police who accompany us to recover the goods together with the suspects.
Since we started, we have had a 100 percent successfully recovery rate. I must say, the police, across the country, have been very supportive,” said the Managing Director of Itreq. The minimum installation price (for a tracking device/chip) is P465 per item and a monthly instalment that starts at P75 per item. In the next few years, the company plans to be more visible across the country and expands its services offerings.
