Man bitten by rats on penis forced to take a break from sex
A 44-year-old man of Mokuete ward in Kanye, Kgangetsile Kebonamang, nearly lost his genitals after rats bit his penis while he was sleeping.
The struggling father of two lamented being terrorised by rats and fears that they will cause infections for him and his family members. Speaking to The Midweek Sun on Sunday, a worried Kebonamang revealed that he could not walk properly due to injuries caused by the rats.
'I do not have my own plot, I stay with my grandparents, the other day I returned home late in the evening. I slept naked and in the morning I felt pain in my testicles and upon scrutiny I discovered fresh wounds on my private parts.”
He admitted that on that day he had come back home drunk and tired, taken all his clothes off and slept.
Kebonamang revealed that rats had previously nibbled on the skin behind his heels, chewed his nails, and gnawed on the tips of his fingers, but he was not worried as it was only a minor injury.
'I went to the hospital and I was given an injection and painkillers,' he said.
He described being bitten by rats on the genitals as unfortunate, as it resulted in painful injuries that forced him to take a break from sex.
According to the Critter Control site, immediate symptoms of rat bites include pain, redness, and even bleeding. Rats' incisors are strong and usually break skin. In these cases, humans are at risk of contracting serious illnesses such as typhus, leptospirosis, plague, and rat-bite fever.
Symptoms of rat-bite fever can occur anywhere between three days and three weeks after the initial bite, even after the wound appears to have healed. Symptoms include fever, nausea, headache, sore muscles, aching joints, and bumpy rashes on hands and feet.
The disease is usually treated with antibiotics like penicillin, but can lead to deadly side effects like meningitis, pneumonia, heart problems, and abscesses of the internal organs if medical attention is not sought.
