Man allegedly killed for his cattle by nephew and brother
Ishmael Keolebogile (24) is being investigated for the murder of his uncle, Lame Keolebogile.
Both are from Tumpa ward in Sefophe village.
Lame was found dead inside his house at Tapalaphala cattle post near Bobonong. It seems he was hit from behind with a blunt object. It knocked him down and he died.
Baines Drift police station commander, Onneetse Gagogosha shared that the suspect has been arrested and was arraigned before Bobonong magistrate court, which has remanded him in custody until the 3rd October 2023.
Gagogosha said it is not yet clear what could have transpired and led to the death of Lame. However, they received a report from the deceased’s brother after Lame failed to show up at the borehole where they were supposed to meet.
They went to his place and found the house locked, there were also visible traces of blood suggesting something suspicious. When they peeped through the window, they saw Lame lying motionless and not showing any signs of life.
And although Gagogosha could not confirm nor deny, it is alleged that the police last week were also questioning the brother who is suspected might be involved in his brother’s death.
“I cannot really comment on that as investigations on the matter are ongoing,” he said.
It is widely speculated that Lame might have been killed for his cattle.
