Woman killed in a crash involving three donkeys

Thapelo Mido Diraditsile (33) of Kanye died this past weekend following a freak accident that left her with severe head injuries.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning along the Poloko road which is between Kanye and Moshupa.

According to those who claim to have passed by the accident scene, Mido was travelling with a male companion heading to Moshupa when the Ford Focus car model they were driving hit a donkey and veered off the road.

“We saw the accident minutes after it occurred, it appears when the accident occurred, the lady was ejected out of the car. It was a terrifying sight because she appeared badly injured.

“The man was still inside the car but it seems he was not as injured as the woman. There were also injured donkeys not far from the accident scene,” a passer-by said.

Confirming the accident, Deputy Police Spokesperson Near Bagali said the deceased was travelling with a driver, 42. The man allegedly hit and killed a donkey and the car then lost control, veered off the road and went on to injure two more donkeys that were lying beside the road.

The injured Mido was rushed to Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Kanye but after realising the severe injuries she had sustained, she was transferred to Princess Marina Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Bagali said investigations are still ongoing.

“We cannot really say it was a case of carelessness or drunken driving, investigations are still at an infancy stage, the driver had sustained minor injuries, he has been discharged from hospital and is helping us with investigations,” he said.

Those who know Mido in Kanye have identified her as a down to earth young lady who worked as a hair dresser. Many took to social media to speak fondly of her, describing her as soft spoken and very patient in her job.
