Kaizer Chiefs found their defensive ace in Ditlhokwe
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has praised the impact that the Botswana-born highly rated defender, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has had on the team during the pre-season matches. The coach has been impressed by Ditlhokwe’s performance on the field during their highly anticipated friendly match against Township Rollers at the National Stadium. He feels that he has made a positive contribution to the team as a whole.
Speaking directly after the final whistle, Ntseki was full of praise for Ditlhokwe. He said that he is a top-quality defender and exactly what the team needed. The coach also noted that the player has a similar footballing language to the rest of the team, which has made his transition to the new club smooth.
He added that he was impressed by the player's performance in the match between Popa, where he stood out with his strong defensive abilities. Ditlhokwe was responsible for stopping Popa’s attacks and helping his team get the ball up the field. “We're very happy with Ditlhokwe, He is not new to South African Premier Division, he played in the PSL for three seasons with Supersport United, so he's not new to this league. We're also impressed with his leadership and knowledge of the game thus far. We really needed someone like him to help strengthen our defense,” he said.
Ntseki cited that Ditlhokwe’s experience as the captain of the Botswana national team is evidence of his leadership abilities. He believes that 'TT' has the qualities to be a great leader at Kaizer Chiefs, and he has been impressed by his conduct so far. He said that the team is confident in his ability to lead by example and set a high standard for everyone else.
Ditlhokwe started in the first 11 for Kaizer Chiefs and captained the team throughout the first half of the match. He was substituted in the second half, but not before making a significant impact on the game. He played calmly and collectedly in the back, making some key interceptions and defending well against the opposition. He was a solid presence in the defense, and the team was undoubtedly stronger with him on the pitch.
His aerial presence was a huge asset for the team, and his command of the back line kept the opposition from getting many crosses in. He was instrumental in the team's clean sheet and was unlucky to be substituted just before the opposition scored. Coach Ntseki said that Ditlhokwe has been a star player for Supersport United over the last three seasons, and his ability to defend well and intercept deadly through-balls has often made him a man of the match at his previous club.
Ditlhokwe spoke about how well he has settled at Kaizer Chiefs, and how excited he is to take on new challenges. He expressed his happiness at being a part of such a great club and said that he is ready to give his all for the team. He seems determined to make the most of this opportunity and help the team achieve success. “I'm really happy with how things have been going at Kaizer Chiefs so far, the technical team has made the transition easy for me, and I'm looking forward to greater things. I feel very welcome here, and I'm excited to see what the future holds,” he said. The 24-year-old signed a three-year deal with Amakhosi in July and wears jersey 24.
