The Gaborone based social club, Ga Inoswa is on a mission to bring dignity and give back to the community with its play for charity tournament. Ga Inoswa will host its 2nd edition of Play for Charity football tournament at the Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC) grounds from the 15-17 of July 2023.

The tournament mandate is to create a platform that raises funds for their charitable activities as well as for youth business to showcase their products and to achieve their long-term goal of creating a safe space and unity for all through sports and charity. Annual Play4charity fundraising winter tournament hosted by Ga Inoswa was organized after Covid 19 pandemic to raise funds for the less privileged and their donations ranges from toiletries, stationeries and food hampers.

Ga Inoswa has now partnered with Runge Kutta NGO, who will be the main beneficiary for this year’s edition and the club will also donate food hampers to some families in Old Naledi through the Village development Committee. Club spokesperson, Obakeng Thantsha says this year, the tournament attracted eight competing teams that will be battling for the prize money worth P10 000.00. Participating teams are the host Ga inoswa, City

Pillars, Kilowatt, Masasaila Club 88, Makaleng's Finest, Jikisnavia and Metlholo social clubs while Motsoseng, Real Ragazzi, Tsele le Tsele and shampopo will be curtain raisers.

“Last year we donated food hampers to 10 families in Mogobane through the Village Development Committee. We also donated to another 10 families in Kopong village through the Kgomokgwana Social Club and the village Kgosi,” he noted. He said they had a good attendance last year and were able to meet their mandate.

Established in 2017 by the then University of Botswana students, Thantsha says the Ga Inoswa name was derived from 'ipelegeng' from the self reliance national principle, mainly advising people to be self-reliant. “We named the club to encourage members to be self-reliant and work hard to sustain themselves hence the slogan Friends, fun and community,” he explained. Spectators will be charged P15.00 at the gate and P5.00 per car.
