NEW APPOINTMENT...Charles Masaiti has been appointed to a new position in the African Chess Confederation

The African Chess Confederation Zone 4.5 has appointed a strong chess advocate, Charles Masaiti as its new Head of their Publicity Committee.

The appointment is in recognition of Masaiti’s influence for introducing two of his children, Besa and Gideon Masaiti, to the game of chess at a young age, as well as his role as chairperson of Rock and Roll Chess Club.

Masaiti brings a unique combination of energy, creativity, commitment and passion to the position and will be instrumental in advancing the organisation’s mission of promoting chess across the Zone 4.5 region.

Masaiti’s daughter Besa has pursued chess to great heights and was selected for the elite scholarship by the Botswana National Sport Commission in 2020. She has won numerous awards thanks to the guidance and support of her father, Masaiti.

The family’s chess club, Rock and Roll Chess Club, has also been credited with enhancing the visibility of the game of chess in the Palapye region through its popular Northern Chess Extravaganza event.

Given his impressive track record of true chess advocacy, the African Chess Confederation Zone 4.5 leadership recognised the important role that Masaiti can now play as Head of its Publicity Committee.

With his vast expertise in the sport, Masaiti is qualified to spearhead the vital publicity efforts of the committee and ensure that the African Chess Confederation Zone 4.5's mission of encouraging chess at the regional level is successful.

He is expected to develop and implement strategies for raising the profile of the game in Zone 4.5, and to work with all stakeholders in the region to increase visibility and participation in chess competitions.

Masaiti is better positioned to drive the mission of encouraging chess across the region as Head for the African Chess Confederation Zone 4.5. His vast experience, well-honed skills and passion for chess will be fundamental in advancing the promotional efforts of the organisation.
