GABS JULY

Gabs July is back with a bang this year with exceptional glamour, flair and style under the theme, 'Zebra Marker’.

Days to yearn for the South African Durban July spectacle are over as locals now have an opportunity to express their fashion sense.

Gabs July is an annual equestrian event and this year will be its second. They also have Gabs July international fashion show taking place this weekend, June 30th. The fashion show event is a build up to the main event that is anticipated on July 22 at the Sebele race track.

Fashion Director and Producer at Gabs July, Thabang Mmolotsi guarantees nothing but a day to remember as they have selected extraordinary local fashion designers and also have a lineup of exciting activities. “The event will be a colorful one, as it boasts a couple of performances by local artistes,” she said.

The gabs July international fashion show is made up of eight local designers, including seven up coming designers and one renowned and multi award winning designer, Lesedi Matlapeng, who is currently the woman fashion designer of the year. The seven designers include; Lira Fashions, Chosen Designs, MalG Designs, Seloba Creations, Lutterloh BW, Butterfly Couture and Art-I-Story.

“We also have international designer, Mamadou Diop from Senegal,” shared Mmolotsi. Mmolotsi further emphasized that this year’s theme, “Zebra Marked”, goes a long way in representing Botswana fashion.

“A zebra is our national animal so we wanted to see how far our designers can go through this remarkable theme. The theme is going to be showcased by the seven upcoming designers only,” she explained.

The celebrated DJ Gouveia, South African Prince Kaybee and other performers are expected to keep the audience electrified with entertainment. Mmolotsi also explained that the seven upcoming designers to showcase are the same designers they used last year, as they are about growth and wish to see how they have advanced this time around.

The fashion show will be held at Game City parkade. Entrance fee is P500 for the VIP class and P200 for the ordinary ticket. Both tickets allow attendants to the after party session where Prince Kaybee will be performing. The show is expected to start at 1900 hours and guest speaker at the event is the High Commissioner of South Africa to Botswana, Thaninga Shope-Soumah. Mmolotsi reiterated that the second edition of this event comes bigger and better as they are mainly about growth and showcasing outstanding fashion.
