A student at Mphuthe Junior School in Letlhakeng has confided in her counselling teachers that her biological father fondles her with an intention to have sex with her.

The father runs a construction business outside Letlhakeng, but often visits his 14-year-old daughter who stays with a guardian in Letlhakeng.

The man now faces a charge of indicent assault. It is alleged that he previously touched his daughter's breasts and buttocks on several occasions and last fondled her on May 23rd 2023. The suspect is a divorcee and his ex-wife resides in the central district.

Details that led to the victim opening up are that the juvenile left a note at home, written, 'I am not enjoying good life and experience serious problems.' The short note was discovered by her step-mother who took it to school and gave it to guidance and counselling teachers.

The child was later confronted and interrogated by a guidance teacher, and upon questioning, opened up that her biological father always touches her breasts, buttocks and slides his hands throughout her body.

On seeing the child shedding tears, the shocked teacher decided to report the matter to the police on June 2nd 2023.

Letlhakeng Police Station Commander, Superintendent Amos Kekgathetse said they are yet to summon the accused for questioning and that the matter is still under investigation.

'There are some men with unbelievable sex appetite. A girl child must be under its mother's care, step parents cannot give appropriate care like biological parents,' Kekgathetse opined.

He warned women to never leave their daughters behind when they end relationships and marriages.

A counselling expert and social worker, as well as founder and Managing Director of Jo'speaks, Dr Kgomotso Jongman confirmed rife cases of some men indecently assaulting infants in diapers or even old women.

'We have said enough about the abuse, it is best to deal with upbringing and the anger that some men harbour shows they do not know how to channel their anger,' Jongman said.
