Mojaki remains on forced leave
Botswana Football Association (BFA) General Manager, Monnakgotla Mojaki is still waiting for the verdict from the three men investigatory committee appointed to investigate the infamous audio clip which suggested a possible match fixing allegations in local football. BFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mfolo Mfolo, this week told this publication that the official will remain on indefinite leave, pending the investigations. After the leaked audio clip that circulated on social media platforms, believed to be a telephone conversation between a top local referee, Joshua Bondo and Mojaki, the BFA issued a statement making assurance they will take appropriate action.
BFA has been accused of dragging their feet to solve the issue. Mojaki is believed to be in close relations with Nicolas Zakhem, who is the BFL president and Director of Gaborone United. Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC) issued a letter to the association warning them to approach the issue with the seriousness it deserves and get to the bottom of the matter and protect the image of the game.
On the 27 of April 2023, BFA confirmed to have appointed investigatory committee to probe the matter. The unnamed individuals are expected to deliver a preliminary report within 10 days.
The BFA leadership is under heavy scrutiny given their previous uncompromising approach to issues, amongst them, of former CEO Goabaone Taylor, suspensions of National Executive Member Tico Kamati and former foot soldier, Setete Phuthego, who were implicated in another scandal regarding Onkarabile Ratanang's registration.
