Man runs for dear life as two women fight for his love and burn his house

A 23-year-old herdsman at Kokgatsaa lands in Maposa village was left homeless after his 21-year-old lover torched his house during an argument over allegations of infidelity.

The brawl followed suspicions by the girlfriend that her boyfriend was cheating on her with a 19-year-old girl who resides in the same neighbourhood. She confronted her boyfriend about the cheating suspicions, but he denied it.

It all started when the accused third party in the couple's relationship, stormed their compound with two empty two-litre bottles to ask for milk.

The girlfriend noticed that her man was flirting with the 19-year-old girl as he filled the bottles with milk, after which he asked her to come for more milk the next day.

The angry girlfriend attacked the young lady. When the boyfriend tried to separate the two women, the fuming girlfriend threatened to beat him with a burning wood.

The boyfriend ran for dear life, leaving the two women fighting in the yard. The distressed girlfriend then walked to the grass-thatched hut and torched it.

Acting Nata police station commander Assistant Superintendent Bopelo Ntatiwa confirmed the incident, stating that it is still under investigation.

He said they have arrested a 21-year-old woman and she faces two charges of assault common and arson.

Ntatiwa said the hut burnt to ashes along with furniture and money amounting to P500, door worth P395, four winter blankets and some kitchen utensils.

"Assault common carries a prison sentence not exceeding one year, while arson, carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment,” he said.

Ntatiwa complained about shebeens that are mushrooming in Nata, and attributes social ills like this one to alcohol abuse in the village.
