Decomposed bones found along Motloutse river
Shocked passers-by discovered fresh human bones next to a poverty eradication village garden along Motloutse River in Tobane on Sunday.
The bones were already scattered around the bushy area with tattered clothes of a woman spotted in the vicinity of the unsightly scene. The clothes were visibly worn from evident termite feeding. The shocked residents reported the matter to the police.
In an interview with The Midweek Sun, Station commander for Botshabelo Police, Superintendent Debbie Mdabule confirmed the incident saying they were alerted and led to the scene whereupon further scrutiny, they realised that these could be human bones.
'It is true, we received the report and the bones were next to a woman’s clothes that were no longer in a good condition,' she said.
She said the bones were not discovered in one place, but suspicions are that they were scattered by animals around the crime scene. 'It looks like the bones were there for a while since the clothes found at the scene were already worn out, we are not certain how long it may have been,' she said.
Concerned Mdabule appealed to the public to check on their relatives and pleaded with those who have missing persons to assist them with information.
'We do not yet know who this person is, and where they were coming from,' she said, adding that the area where the human bones were discovered is next to a large village garden and that investigations are still ongoing.
