A broken-hearted Chimbose Senne (52) of Dibete village has a hard time accepting that his two sons, Emmanuel and Phemelo Ramotsoko, are implicated in a murder case that threatens to swallow their future.

Emmanuel (18) and Phemelo (24) briefly appeared before Mahalapye magistrate court this week for allegedly murdering Obuile Nkokomane of Maaloso ward in Dibete late last month. They have been granted conditional bail after being locked up in jail for two weeks.

Speaking to The Midweek Sun this week, Chimbose said that Emmanuel had all along been held at Boys’ prison in Moshupa, while Phemelo was at Mahalapye prison.

He still cannot understand what really transpired on the day Obuile died but what he has heard is that there was a misunderstanding between the boys leading to them stabbing each other.

“I hear there were disagreements that began in the afternoon. There was a gang of boys fighting and my kids were being attacked so I am not really sure what happened or if the youngest always had a knife on him but I heard he stabbed the deceased then came home running begging his brother for help,” Chimbose said.

He added that members of the community are alleged to have chased Emmanuel all the way from the crime scene to his father’s house, they were angry at him and demanded that he comes out.

The angry mob smashed Chimbose's windows and doors, forcibly trying to gain entry. It was the police who came to Emmanuel's rescue, and safely whisked him away and arrested his brother a day later.

Chimbose was quick to point out that it is not his fault that his children are in jail for murder because he did not send them to kill.

“I was not home when all these happened, I was only told later that night that the youngest had been taken away by the police,” he said.

Dibete Station Commander Meshack Ranku told this publication that after arresting Emmanuel, investigations suggested that his brother, Phemelo, was a possible accomplice to the crime hence his arrest.
