Threat to kill suspect found hanging
A 56-year-old man facing a threat-to-kill charge against his wife has been found hanging from a tree at Nkolo lands between Matlhako and Chadibe villages in a suspected suicide.
Assistant Superintendent Oaitse Moba of Machaneng police said the deceased, who was from Sengakane Ward in Chadibe, was discovered by a man who had gone to clear shrubs along the main road.
The man reportedly spotted the deceased near a tree and waved at him in greeting. When he received no response, he became concerned and called his companion to assist.
The two subsequently discovered that the man had allegedly hanged himself from the tree using a wire. Police were alerted and attended the scene.
The deceased was taken to Sefhare Hospital, where he was certified dead. His body was thereafter taken to Sefhare mortuary, where it is being kept pending a post mortem examination.
Moba confirmed that the dead man was an accused person in a threat to kill case and was expected to return to court for mention on 20 October 2026 at the Mahalapye Magistrates’ Court.
The nature of the allegations against him and whether the pending case had any connection to his death have not been established.
There was reportedly no note or message at the scene explaining what may have driven him to take his own life.
