Kgomotso Tshwenyego, affectionately known as Aus K, is being remembered as a mother of Botswana’s entertainment industry, and her legacy will inspire generations. The industry reeled this past Friday (May 15, 2026) with the news of her passing.

A beloved TV personality, actress and long-time judge on the music showdown My Star, Aus K was known for her cheerful spirit and wisdom. She acted in several local TV shows and always brought warmth to every set. Even through her painful battle with cancer, she kept smiling, engaging her Facebook community and updating followers on her condition, raising health awareness in the process. She was in and out of hospitals in Botswana and South Africa, facing treatment with remarkable positivity.

We will remember her fondly for her signature opening, “Bo sutate” (“my sweethearts”), which she used to begin Facebook posts and spark lively, laughter-filled conversations. Socialite Daniel Kenosi describes her bubbly personality: “Even on a hospital bed, she ushered me with that cheerful spirit. In 2024 she was hospitalized in Sandton, and every day when I checked on her, it was as though she wasn’t a patient she was the loudest in her ward. On the day of her release I drove her to Tshwane to her relatives’ house. On our way, I played her ‘Hay’ Inyweba’ by Joyous Celebration. When I dropped her, she asked me to save the song on her memory stick, and I did. That song remains our connection song,” he said.

Aus K leaves behind a vibrant legacy of joy, courage and authentic African storytelling. May your soul rest in peace, Aus K. We regret that our last conversation with you was to visit you
