Registration has officially opened for the 2026 edition of the Wings for Life World Run, with Botswana set to host its App Run Event for the second consecutive year at Royal Aria Stadium.

The 13th edition of the global race, regarded as the world’s largest running event, will take place on 10 May at 13:00 Botswana time. Organisers expect thousands of participants locally and around the world to sign up, with 100% of all entry fees and donations going toward research and clinical trials aimed at finding a cure for spinal cord injury.

Now firmly embedded in Botswana’s sporting and social calendar, the event continues to gain traction following a successful debut in 2025. Its return to Royal Aria Stadium offers runners, walkers and wheelchair participants another opportunity to be part of a global movement united by a shared mission: a future where spinal cord injury no longer limits lives.

Designed to be inclusive, the race welcomes people of all fitness levels and abilities. Participants can walk, run or roll, whether they are first-timers, seasoned athletes or social runners, contributing to a global cause while experiencing the energy of the local event. Those interested can either join the organised App Run Event in Gaborone or participate individually using the official Wings for Life World Run App. Each registration not only signifies participation but also contributes to a growing global effort to support life-changing research.

In 2025, the event attracted more than 310,000 participants worldwide, underscoring its scale and impact. As Botswana prepares for its second year, organisers anticipate even stronger local turnout, building on the enthusiasm and community support seen during its inaugural staging. With the 2026 edition approaching, the Wings for Life World Run continues to highlight the power of collective action, where every step taken brings researchers closer to breakthroughs and offers renewed hope to millions affected by spinal cord injuries.
