CEDA injects P696 million into SMMEs
The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) has invested P696 million in 1,716 businesses by the end of the third quarter of the 2025/2026 financial year, creating 3,109 new jobs and safeguarding 1,569 existing ones.
Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Tiroyaone Ntsima, disclosed the figures to Parliament, noting that the agency has become a key driver of Botswana’s economic diversification agenda.
CEDA also reported loan recoveries of P814 million and revenue of P207 million, underscoring its operational sustainability and ability to reinvest in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
A major development during the period was the launch of CEDA’s five-year corporate strategic plan, Katlego ya Mogwebi (Success of the Entrepreneur), which aims to deepen investment, expand job creation, and strengthen operational efficiency.
Ntsima said the plan places inclusive growth at its core, aligning with Botswana’s broader vision to reduce unemployment to single digits by 2030 and build a resilient economy driven by innovation and entrepreneurship.
