Man kills lover's mother after dispute

Nthabiseng Dikosi, 29, of Mabule Village, appeared before the Gaborone High Court on Tuesday for a status hearing in connection with a brutal murder case linked to domestic violence.

According to court documents, on the 6th of September 2022, Dikosi allegedly murdered Adrian Botumile at Mabule following a domestic dispute involving his girlfriend and their child.

The incident unfolded after the deceased reportedly phoned her daughter, asking why she had left the child in the care of others. This phone call reportedly escalated tensions between the couple.

Later that evening, Dikosi and his girlfriend went to the deceased’s home where the child was. Upon arrival, an altercation started.

The deceased is said to have slapped her daughter in frustration, prompting Dikosi to physically assault her.

He then allegedly stabbed the girlfriend's mother with a sharp object, resulting in her death. Reports indicate that Dikosi was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Judge Bafi Nlanda of the Gaborone High Court presided over the matter and ordered that Dikosi return to court on 17 February 2026 for a final status hearing.

The trial has been scheduled for March 2 to March 5, 2026.
