Wounded Sesinyi Unleashed
Former Botswana Football Association (BFA), National Executive Committee (NEC) member has come out guns blazing with some disparaging accusations relating to unethical and corrupt tendencies by some current members at the helm of power at Lekidi offices.
Senki Sesinyi, who was part of Maclean Letshwiti’s regime as the 2nd Vice President has for some weeks now been raging on social media, exposing alleged misappropriation of funds and other maladministration practices at the association.
According to the former Double Action Ladies Football Club president, who is currently serving an indefinite BFA suspension, he is in possession of evidence about accusations he has levelled against some quarters at the association.
Sesinyi for more than a week, released a series of snippets on daily basis to back-up his controversial submissions which revealed several corruption and misuse of funds at Lekidi.
“Corrupt individuals must leave football, we cannot continue to protect thieves, and the current football leadership [President] must take action.
As per by the BFA constitution I am not suspend, they do not have the powers to suspend me, not even the BFA NEC have the powers to do so,” Sesinyi told BG Sport when contacted to probe on his unrelenting war towards some members of the BFA regime.
The former Double Actions Ladies Club boss continues to maintain that his suspension from football is unconstitutional and unjust as the only structures, Ethics Committee & Disciplinary Committee, with powers to suspend a member have not presided over his case.
While Sesinyi’s utterances cannot be completely ignored by the football community, a close observer and former BFA administrator, who spoke on the basis of anonymity, labelled the former BFA Vice President 2 as a disgruntled and frustrated figure who is seeking relevance in football space.
“He thought the new leadership was going to lift his suspension, which could not happen because his case [sexual harassment allegations] has been reported to the police and therefore it is beyond the powers of the association to rescind any decision taken. On corruption allegations, he is clutching on straws, but if he has the evidence he is free to expose delinquencies within the association because
I believe that the current BFA leadership does not entertain corruption in any shape or form,” a source close the developments at the association told BG Sport.
The local football head office, Chief Executive Officer Mfolo Mfolo, further dismissed allegations peddled by Sesinyi and would not be drawn deep into the matter as there has been no official communication presented before the association.
“In terms of governance, we only act on matters that are reported to the office. When somebody writes on the social space we cannot act because we do not have full details of the matter, we do not respond to howling in social space. He [Sesinyi] knows the structure better than most, he knows the proper channels to present his grievances,” Mfolo said.
With Sesinyi currently serving a suspension from football, his grievances pertaining to the game are likely to be snubbed by the football office but Mfolo, in admitting this fact, indicated that there are alternatives through which the veteran administrator could have his complaints be heard by the association.
“He cannot report to us because he is suspended. He has been suspended from football and football related matters, but if it is whistle-blowing there is nothing we can do. For him though, if it is whistle-blowing, it can be done by a different source. If he has the evidence it is so easy to find ways to bring it forward, and the first call of action will commence,” Mfolo responded.
Sesinyi believes that his suspension from football was an act of personal witch-hunt and hatred and therefore, vengeance looms as efforts to reclaim his freedom continues.
The BFA leadership however continues to ignore his antics in respect of safe-guarding of a girl child in football, as FIFA and CAF closely monitor the developments from distance.
