Police nab 110 suspects in nationwide drug crackdown
The Botswana Police Service (BPS) has arrested 110 people across the country in a sweeping operation targeting illicit drugs and related crimes.
The nationwide operation, which began in September 2025, uncovered 72 cases involving Dagga, nine of Methcathinone, and one case of Cocaine. The arrests come as law enforcement intensifies efforts to curb the spread of illegal substances in communities.
According to the BPS, the campaign is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug supply networks, protect communities, and promote public health. Police say they remain committed to working with various stakeholders to ensure those involved in the drug trade face justice.
The operation is seen as a proactive step towards reducing the circulation of narcotics that continue to harm youth and families across Botswana. Police have been conducting raids, surveillance, and intelligence-led operations in areas identified as drug hotspots.
Authorities are appealing to members of the public to assist in the fight against drug-related crimes by reporting suspicious activities. They believe community involvement is key in tracing suppliers and users who continue to operate underground.
Assistant Commissioner of Police and Public Relations Officer, Near Bagali, urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing information that could lead to more arrests and safer communities.
Police have assured the nation that similar operations will continue across all districts as part of their ongoing mission to combat drug trafficking and related offences.
The crackdown serves as a warning to offenders that the law will not spare those caught dealing in or consuming illicit substances.
