Beauty with Brains

She is fierce on the runway, focused in the courtroom, and fiery when it comes to helping others grow. The 23-year-old Kimberly Masika Kotewa is rewriting what it means to be a modern-day queen and she’s doing it on her own terms.

Born and raised in Sehithwa near Maun, Kotewa’s name first echoed across the country when she landed a Top 10 spot at Miss Botswana 2025. But her story does not start or stop there. “Modeling gave me a voice. Law gave me purpose. Coaching gave me legacy,” she says.

Most people would pick either beauty or books but Kotewa said why not both? While others were chasing one dream, she was juggling runway lights and law books. And guess what? She is doing just fine. “I knew my journey was different from the start,” she admits. “I never wanted to be boxed in. There is power in owning all of who you are.”

Those who worked with her during Miss Botswana describe her as “a blend of sharp thinking, calm energy, and fierce self-awareness.”

These days, Kotewa is the one behind the scenes, preparing the next wave of beauty queens not just to slay the stage, but to speak with purpose. “My coaching is not just about walking. It is about walking into a room with presence. With purpose,” she says.

Her golden rule for anyone entering a competition is “Know your why. Once you are grounded in purpose, you will not break when things get tough.”

Off the stage and out of the lecture hall, Kimberly runs an empowerment platform called The Growth Guide; a heart project for students and young professionals who need direction, confidence, and mindset work. “It is for the ones who feel lost, overlooked or unsure. I want them to know they are capable, they matter, and they have something to offer,” she says.

From free resources to personal coaching, the platform is becoming a safe space for many who are still figuring it out and she is showing up for them with real talk, not just filtered posts.

You would expect a packed planner and you could be right. Between client sessions, content shoots, and legal studies, her days are hectic. But she swears by boundaries and balance. “I rest. I unplug.

I say no. I have learned that peace is part of the grind too,” she says with a laugh.

She is not slowing down anytime soon. Kotewa plans to finish her legal training, take The Growth Guide across borders, and publish a book for young people chasing purpose. “I do not want to just be successful. I want to multiply success for myself and everyone I meet.”

“Do not shrink. Do not dim your light. Do not let anyone tell you are doing too much. You are doing just fine.”
