Miss Botswana still hopeful ahead of Miss World Finale

Miss World-Botswana, Anicia Gaothusi, is keeping her head held high even after missing out on clinching a spot in one of the fast track events, missing out on an automatic placements in the Top 40.

Gaothusi took part in all fast track competitions, including Beauty with a Purpose, Sports, and Top Model. Her Beauty with a Purpose project, titled Lights, did not make it to the shortlist. She also competed in the sports challenge and, although she did not win, she reached the Top 32, which is a strong showing. The Miss World competition brings together contestants from across the globe. The Top 40 will include 10 contestants from each of the four continental regions being Americas& the Caribbean, Africa, Europe and Asia & Oceania. The 72nd Miss World finale will take place this Saturday, May 31, in Telangana, India.

The competition, which started on May 7, has included various events and activities aimed at helping judges get to know the contestants better ahead of the grand finale. Already, some contestants have already earned automatic spots in the Top 40 finalists, and they secured their spots having won fast track events such as Top Model and Head-to-Head Challenge. For the Africa region, Zambia won the Head-to-Head Challenge, and Namibia won Top Model, securing their places in the Top 40.

Although South Africa won the Top Designer title, that category does not guarantee automatic placement. Despite these challenges, Gaothusi has impressed many with her elegant and well-thought-out wardrobe. From evening gowns to cultural wear and casual looks, her fashion choices have shown grace, confidence, and a strong sense of identity. Her outfits are not only stylish but also respectful of her roots. Miss World- Botswana’s remaining hope for advancing lies in the Multimedia category, which rewards contestants for their social media engagement, digital content, and public support.

If she wins this category, she will secure a place in the Top 40. Although Botswana has not secured a spot yet, fans remain hopeful that Gaothusi will shine in the Multimedia category or earn a judges’ spot.
