Man, 60, killed at hiking spot
A 60-year-old man from Mmeya village lost his life in a tragic incident near Borolong village, close to Francistown on Sunday.
His lifeless body, bearing a deep wound, was found at the bus stop in a pool of blood. The discovery was made by passers-by, who promptly notified the police. Tati Police Station Commander, Superintendent Boipuso Baatweng confirmed the incident.
He revealed that investigations showed the man had been attacked while attempting to catch a ride in the evening. He was accompanied by his 35-year-old nephew, who fled the scene before the assault took place. When the authorities arrived at the scene, the man was quickly taken to Nyangabgwe Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Supt. Baatweng urged anyone with information regarding the incident or details surrounding the event to come forward, assuring the public that they would be offered protection. Supt. Baatweng expressed concern at the rising rates of defilement in the area, warning against the exploitation of young school-going girls by elderly men using the lure of money.
