Prophet's rape case set for trial
Prominent ‘Prophet,’ Goitsekgosi Mojadigo of Divine Anointing Church International appeared before the Village Magistrate’s Court this Tuesday morning - cool, calm and collected.
Once known for his arrogant attitude in the first court appearances in 2024, this time around Mojadigo showed a noticeable change - humble and composed.
Many believe his time in prison has played a part in this transformation, as he faced the court with a more relaxed and thoughtful expression.
The 33-year-old is facing a single charge of having carnal knowledge of a minor, which allegedly took place on or around 23 April 2024 in Block 10, Gaborone.
Prosecutor Nelly Seabuweng said they will call 12 witnesses in the matter.
In the last court appearance, the Village Magistrate Daniel Nkau recused himself from the case in which Mojadigo is charged with rape.
Magistrate Nkau said he has a connection with a law firm that is representing Mojadigo in the matter and therefore he cannot preside over the case.
The 34-year-old has also been slapped with multiple sexual assault charges at the Mochudi Magistrate’s Court, in which he allegedly defiled four (4) teenage girls, and a single count of rape.
He was re-arrested in October 2024, after violating bail conditions and is currently in police custody awaiting trial.
Senior Village Magistrate Tshepo Tshedi said the accused will appear for Case Management Conference (CMC) on the 2nd of June 2025 and attend trial on the 25th of August 2025.
