An extended family in Goo Ruele ward, Kanye, woke up to a shocking discovery on Saturday morning when they found a man lying unconscious in their yard.

As the family members approached the man, attempting to speak to him, they realised he was unable to respond coherently.

They soon discovered that he had sustained injuries all over his body, and his clothes were bloodstained.

In a panic, the family immediately contacted the police, and a police van arrived to assist.

Confirming the shocking incident, Kanye Police Station Commander Vincent Pitseetsile reported that officers found the man alive but barely breathing, showing signs of severe weakness.

'The police rushed him to the hospital, where he was admitted. However, shortly after his admission, we received the heart-breaking news that he had died,' Pitseetsile said.

The deceased, identified as a 25-year-old man, was unresponsive by the time he was brought to the hospital. His family members have been notified, but the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

A family member, who spoke to The Midweek Sun, described their shock at the discovery, that they tried asking who he was and never responded.

'I could not believe what I was seeing, I initially thought he was one of us in the family, we were just going about our usual routine when we found him lying there, covered in blood.

“We had no idea who he was or what had happened to him. It is hard to come to terms with what we witnessed,' he said.

Pitseetsile said that the police are currently investigating the case, and the cause of death is yet to be determined.
