Arafat Khan fears fokol

Arafat Khan, UDC Molepolole North MP Candidate says for 58 years, Molepolole has laboured for developments and progress.

During this period, Molepolole has been a home to unemployed youth, dry standpipes and water sources, declining healthcare and education, poor infrastructure and other myriad of problems associated with the BDP Government.

“Many of the giants of old are not with us and we of a later day, standing on an eminence of their creation, may often decry their enduring legacy. How can we forget them or the great work they did in laying the foundations of progressive politics in Molepolole?

“And none of us can ever forget that glorious band of men and women who, without tacking the consequences, have laid down their young lives or spent their bright youth in suffering and torment in utter protest against the successive BDP regimes and equally built and sustained progressive politics in Molepolole North Constituency,” the former Councillor for Borakalalo Ward in the same constituency, said.

Khan is a decorated youthful politician who has risen through various structures of his political home, the Botswana National Front (BNF).

He stated that Botswana today is one vast question mark and everyone in Molepolole North is in the melting pot. He said the age of faith, with the comfort and stability it brings, is past and there is questioning about everything.

Khan who is the former BNF Youth League President indicated that everywhere there is doubt and restlessness. He pointed out that the ideals of liberty, justice, property and even the core values are being attacked and the outcome hangs in the balance.

“We are a nation and a community on the brink of despair and hopelessness. No one can say what the future will bring, but we may assert with confidence that UDC will bring about transformation and restore your confidence in the State and the tenets of democracy and rule of law”.

Khan who earned most of his enemies through the tagline fearfokol, which was argued to be a notorious faction within the BNF, says together with his team, they commit to focus on improved road infrastructure across all Molepolole North wards; focus on illumination of Molepolole North wards through solar street lights to ensure safety and enhance commerce; attract investment and business opportunities in Molepolole North to create sustainable jobs, especially among the youth; accelerate land allocation for residence and business, to inculcate a culture of home and business ownership for the youth, pensioners and vulnerable groups; provision of potable water to restore decent lives; and provision of healthcare services, including a 24-hour clinical services in Molepolole North.

“As a community leader, especially during my stint as a Councillor and bona-fide resident of Molepolole North, I have been involved in various community projects and initiatives that have been transformational in nature.

“Some of the initiatives include: Support to primary schools through rewards/incentives to excelling students, donation of school uniform, ICT equipment and learning aids to create a conducive learning environment and improve school results; internal road infrastructure to ease movement of people in Molepolole North; and setting up of Fire Services to ensure safety to property and creation of jobs,” he said.

On FearFokol being a notorious faction which comprises those who lost the BNFYL elections at Mahalapye in 2016, Khan said “for those who follow South African politics, they will be aware that the FearFokol slogan is being used as a political campaign slogan by politicians such as Minister Fikile Mbalula and Julius Malema of the EFF. Such politicians have used the FearFokol slogan to brand themselves for their militant, radical and robust approach to politics.”

He said having benchmarked this from the EFF, he introduced the slogan to Borakalalo Ward to brand his 2019 election campaign and other political activities within Borakalalo ward post 2014. The FearFokol brand resonated well with the youthful voters who are determined to uproot the BDP from Borakalalo Ward, the entire Molepolole North constituency and the country at large, he added.

“Members of the BNF, UDC and the nation at large are advised that the FearFokol brand is my personal brand. FearFokol is not a faction. It has never been a faction and will never be one. I remain Mr FearFokol in order to disarm the detractors of the BNF and the UDC, an undertaking is hereby made to cease and desist, forthwith, from using the FearFokol slogan.”
