Post-mortem saves woman from murder charge against boyfriend

Senyana Balotlhanyi, a woman accused of killing her boyfriend, Goitseone Oabile (50) of Chadibe village has been saved by post-mortem results that have revealed that she did not intentionally plan to kill him.

Oabile died a few days ago following a fight with her girlfriend. The couple, known for always fighting each other, is alleged to have on that fateful day, been spotted arguing and tussling at a popular bar in Chadibe.

Concerned onlookers broke off the fight, fearing the duo would injure each another. Once calm, the couple decided to walk home, where Balotlhanyi’s aunt resided with her man. It was also at the aunt’s place, where the couple had left their children before going to the bar.

When they arrived home, the couple started fighting again. It is not clear what then happened, but the aunt heard screams of the children, suggesting they were spooked. When the aunt and her man rushed out of their house to see what was happening, they found Oabile lying on the floor, unconscious.

When they asked the girlfriend what happened, she explained that Oabile wanted to beat her, and she defended herself by blocking him from entering the house. She told them that Oabile probably slipped and fell.

The police were informed, and Oabile was rushed to the hospital and was certified dead upon arrival. Balotlhanyi was arraigned before court last week and is remanded in custody.

However, information reaching The Midweek Sun this week suggests that preliminary investigations have confirmed that indeed Balotlhanyi was telling the truth when she said she did not intend to kill her boyfriend.

It is alleged that the post-mortem results show that Oabile died of health complications not related to the injuries the deceased incurred as a result of the scuffle with Balotlhanyi.

“We are still carrying out further investigations. The suspect was remanded in custody as the matter was still fresh and emotions still high. If we get information that necessitates changing the charge sheet, that will be done”, Meshack Mosika of Tati Town police station said this week.
