This week, 40 year-old McDonald Bakang Mothogaesi, who claims to have lived in North America for some time, appeared before the Kanye Magistrate Court with X-ray images.

He alleges that the images show pieces of glass in his intestines, which he claims to have ingested from his daily meals in prison.

Mothogaesi was appearing before Principal Magistrate Reuben Sebetlela for committal to the High Court, after being paused for a while pending police investigations in a murder case he is facing.

The accused, McDonald Bakang Mothogaesi, faces one count of murder for allegedly killing his girlfriend and the mother of his child, One Gobusamang, on March 29, 2023, in Maunatlala ward, Moshupa village.

It is alleged that Mothogaesi murdered his girlfriend and then set her body on fire in a bathtub, where only a burnt leg was later recovered, with the rest of her body reduced to ashes.

Given a chance to speak, Mothogaesi, who stood in the dock holding a green plastic bag containing children's tracksuits, expressed his distress. He stated that despite being out on bail, he has been forbidden from seeing his daughter.

He explained that he had bought winter clothes for her long ago and has been holding onto them for months, as the police have prevented him from visiting her. He pleaded with the court to allow him to be reunited with his daughter.

'I want to be reunited with my adorable angel so I give her the biological parental love she deserves, I am really begging to be allowed to see my precious princess,' he said.

While the magistrate was still noting down his speech, Mothogaesi reached into a brown envelope, removed X-ray images, and complained that he had been fed food containing glass pieces in prison, claiming that the images were proof.

However, the magistrate cautioned Mothogaesi that he is facing serious charges and ordered the police to escort him to see his daughter, emphasising that matters involving minor children should not be overlooked.

The magistrate did not respond to the allegations about the glass pieces. Mothogaesi claimed that the glass debris had caused him to develop tumours on his body, for which he would soon undergo surgery.

Speaking to The Midweek Sun outside court, Mothogaesi reiterated his claims, alleging that the tumours on his body were a result of consuming glass pieces.

The case continues on September 4th.
