Hosana Gospel Singers are cooking up a storm

Hosana Gospel Singers are bringing in an electrifying night of praise and worship on August 24th. The event will take place at the Molapo Piazza and will serve as live recording for their second album. To add a different type of excitement and vibe, they have invited one of the biggest Gospel legends, Pastor Benjamin Dube.

They will also be joined on stage by none other than the sensational Yanga Sobetwa, a performer who is currently doing wonders with the recent release of Jeso o Ntekane. The song, released recently, currently has 1.6million views on Youtube. If there is one thing that Sobetwa knows to do effortlessly is to worship, and take her audience on a journey into the unknown. The Idols SA winner (Season 14) has since made a transition from pop to gospel, and has fit perfectly into her newly found calling.

Her hit single, Jeso o ntekane, featuring Mbuso Worship, is breathtakingly beautiful, and the sort of song that leaves one exposed to the core when it comes to their emotions. Pastor Dube, aged 62 years, is a South African gospel recording artist, who rose to fame in the early 80’s.

Over the years, he has released a number of albums, which have reached gold and platinum status. His albums include Legendary in his Presence (Live) released in 2023, In his Presence, Healing in his Presence, Worship in Isolation (2020), as well as a number of other albums.

Speaking in an interview with this publication, Nico Matlapeng, the Group Leader, explains that besides Sobetwa and Pastor Dube, they will also be joined by other Botswana talents. Sharing how they settled on the two joining them, he says that they have a long-standing relationship with Pastor Dube, dating back to many years. The group brought him sometimes in 2009. He further says that he is more like a father to them. “If we featured anyone, it would have to be him, as he is our father,” explains Matlapeng.

He also says Sobetwa was brought in, as she is currently doing extremely well. Sobetwa is young and upcoming talent, and this will serve as a sort of a talent exchange between them and her. Taking this publication through the big night schedule, he explains guests will be taken on an extraordinary journey. “They should look forward to an electrifying night.

They will be in the presence and expect to be moved by God,” he explains. Adding on to the atmosphere of the evening, he explains that they are bringing everything when it comes to giving worshippers a night unlike any other. This will include the best sound, and technical support. Matlapeng also highlights that when they first recorded their first album in 2022, they had close to 1700 worshippers, and they are hoping to repeat the feat.

Highlights to look forward to include recording 20 songs (original, familiar songs as well as some covers that will make sense to the audience). “We will also record a lot of known songs,” he says, noting that the show is four hours long. The album will be available on digital platforms such as spotify, and youtube (where they have a channel), as well as other platforms.

He explains that they have close to 50 000 streams from viewers in various parts of the country, including South Africa, and Europe. Tickets are at Webtickets (Choppies and Spa outlets). And VIP guests can expect to get front row seats, as well as refreshments. Back seating is P250, Middle seating is P300, front row is P500, and lastly the VIP is P1000.
