REMANDED: Phemelo Moshe(Middle) was denied bail by the Kanye Magistrate

Murder suspect, Phemelo Picture Moshe, who allegedly killed two young women on different occasions and burying them - one covered with branches and the other buried in the ground - is now seeking bail.

Appearing before Kanye Senior Magistrate Keneilwe Kgoadi, 29-year-old Moshe sat in the court dock, hoping to be granted bail, which he was eventually denied. Moshe allegedly killed one of the two women while out on bail for the murder of the first woman. In both cases, the suspect led the police to the crime scenes after the victims were reported missing.

Moshe was arrested as the prime suspect since he was the boyfriend of both victims - Lundi Selekanyo (21), whom he allegedly killed in 2022, and Keitumetse Maopinkie Motlakase (27), whom he allegedly killed in 2023.

According to details of the murder incidents, Moshe allegedly murdered the two women in the same way, and their bodies were both later discovered in a decomposed state. In the first murder case, Selekanyo was reported

missing on December 2, 2022.

Her decomposed body was later discovered in a bushy area behind Mokgadi Primary School after police conducted multiple searches. The suspect was arrested on December 8, and he led the police to the crime scene. The deceased had told her relatives that she was going to see the accused. Moshe had denied knowing the whereabouts of the deceased during police interrogation but later admitted to killing her and led the investigators to the scene where her decomposed body was found under a Mosu tree, half-naked.

In the latest murder case, Keitumetse Maopinki Motlakase was reported missing on October 27, 2023. The Botswana police published on their Facebook page, declaring her a missing person and noting that she was last seen in October. Details of the incident indicate that Moshe allegedly killed the deceased, who was his girlfriend, and buried her at his rented home in Chibana ward. The deceased’s decomposed naked body was later discovered, exhumed from the ground at Rachibana ward, and given to relatives, who buried her immediately.

Standing in the court dock, hiding his face with the brown turtleneck he was wearing, Magistrate Kgoadi told him she could not grant him bail due to the magnitude of the crimes he committed. He was informed that he could appeal the decision within 14 days if he was not satisfied with the court's decision.
