Two Old Naledi friends die at the hands of their lovers
The dead body of Botho Gabotsalwe (24) was found dumped near the Old Lobatse road and behind a heap of pallets in Old Naledi this past Sunday.
Gabotsalwe’s body was found by a carpenter who uses pallets to make furniture as well as chicken houses. When the carpenter arrived at his workstation that morning, he was met with the horror sight of a lifeless bloodied woman.
“I just found her there when trying to pick a pallet with intentions of starting my work. I was shocked but for now I am fine. We reported the matter to the police,” the carpenter recited.
Assistant Superintendent, Mike Gaoboe of Old Naledi Police said that when they arrived at the scene, they rushed the 24-year-old to the hospital where she was certified dead.
The deceased hails from Ga Sau ward, Thamaga but was renting a house in old Naledi, where she lived with her mother.
No arrest had been made by Tuesday afternoon in connection with Gabotswalwe’s death. However, information from reliable sources suggests that the police have made a breakthrough and the suspect is likely to be arraigned before court this Wednesday.
Allegations are that the suspect is a 28-year-old man who was romantically involved with the deceased.
Furthermore, information gathered in old Naledi suggests that Gabotsalwe died a few hours after burying her friend, Mosa Mathule (27).
Mathule was also found murdered and covered with a blanket inside her house in Old Naledi on the 17th of May 2024. Old Naledi residents who spoke to The Midweek Sun this week said that Gabotsalwe was one of the speakers on burial day this past Saturday in Old Naledi.
It is suspected that hours later, on Saturday night, Gabotsalwe was killed, and her body was discovered the next day by the carpenter.
According to police boss Gaoboe, they are still on the hunt for Mathule’s killer. It is suspected that Mathule was also killed by a man she was dating.
