Woman brutally stabs another over a man

A 37-year-old woman from Mmamarope ward, Kalamare, will appear before the Mahalapye Magistrate Court this Wednesday morning on a murder charge.

The incident involves a fatal fight with a 52-year-old woman, who was sharing a boyfriend with the accused.

According to police reports, the accused visited her boyfriend’s house early Monday morning at around 3:30am, only to find him not there. She then proceeded to the deceased woman's house, and as she approached, knocking loudly, the boyfriend, who had been spending the night there, fled, leaving the two women alone.

An argument erupted between the women over their shared lover, escalating into a physical fight. During the confrontation, the 37-year-old woman allegedly took a knife and stabbed the older woman in the chest and right arm before returning to her residence.

When he returned from his hiding place, the boyfriend found his elderly lover lying unconscious in a pool of blood. He immediately reported the incident to the police, implicating his other girlfriend in the attack.

Mahalapye Police Station Commander, Superintendent Omphile Malemenyane, confirmed the incident.

"The accused is currently in police custody and will appear in court tomorrow, the deceased will undergo a post-mortem examination on Thursday, and our investigation into the matter is ongoing," Malemenyane stated on Tuesday.

In another incident, Superintendent Malemenyane revealed that Mahalapye police are also investigating a case of threat to kill, involving two brothers. The dispute arose over a missing car part, leading to the 35-year-old younger brother threatening to kill his 40-year-old elder brother with a pellet gun.

Malemenyane advised residents to seek peaceful resolution of disputes and to report any threats of violence to prevent tragic outcomes of taking law into their own hands.
