LEGENDS RETURN:The next edition of Clash of the Legends match is on the pipeline.

After a successful event launch this week, the organizers of Clash of the Legends are now determined to make this year's edition bigger and better than ever before. With partnerships and sponsorships already in the works, anticipation is high as the countdown to the epic event begins. The event is set to take place at the National Stadium on the 29th of June this year.

The annual Clash of the Legends event, is meant to support former footballers and athletes through fundraising events, educational assistance, and helping them establish sources of income. The second edition of the event is set to benefit three athletes, namely Oscar Ncenga, Onkabetse Nkobolo, and Seboloko 'Naughty' Khutsafalo, who will receive a portion of the game's proceeds. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the Botswana Football

Legends will compete against their South Africa counterparts, who have already confirmed their participation and graced the launch.

The Clash of the Legends event has formed a valuable partnership with Star Chery Motors Botswana, who will be providing transport for the event's beneficiaries on the day of the event. In addition to this support, Star Chery Motors Botswana has generously donated a Tiggo 4PRO car to the event organizers. This car will serve as the grand prize in a competition open to all ticket buyers for the Clash of the Legends event. Tickets purchased prior to June 27th will automatically qualify participants for a chance to win the car.

At the launch of the Clash of the Legends event on Monday, one of the organizers, Sekhana Koko, emphasized the team's determination to build on the success of the previous year's event. He stated that there will be significant changes in the upcoming second edition, which is anticipated to be even more impressive than the first. Koko also highlighted the positive impact the event had on the beneficiaries from last year, as it provided them with opportunities for growth and exposure beyond the event itself.

"We're aiming to exceed the P90k we raised last year. So, we're extending an open invitation to business owners to partner with us for this year's edition. We also urge the public to come out and support this event, as it directly benefits our former athletes. We're currently seeking out deals and partnerships that will help us host this fantastic event. Preparations are going smoothly, and our goal is to spread the word far and wide so that we can have as many people attend as possible. It's going to be a great time for all," Koko explains.

Koko went on to state that the lineup for team Botswana has undergone some slight changes compared to the previous year. He confirmed that Mompati Thuma and Sox Molwantwa will be participating in the upcoming event, as well as Mogogi Gabonamong.

Matthew Booth, a representative from the South African Legends team, attended the event's launch and shared a few encouraging words. He praised the organizers for creating such an impactful event, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to be involved. He also confirmed that 95% of the South African Legends team had already committed to participating in the upcoming event, with the addition of star striker Katlego Mphela to the lineup. Booth's remarks served as a testament to the positive effect the Clash of the Legends event is having, both in Botswana and beyond.
