It was a bittersweet victory for Jwaneng Galaxy as they secured a consecutive Botswana Premier League title but without receiving prize money for their achievement. However, their 1-0 victory over Orapa United over the weekend guarantees them a spot in the upcoming CAF Champions League next season.

Botswana Football League (BFL) acting CEO, Bennett Mamelodi, has confirmed that Jwaneng Galaxy did not receive any financial reward for winning the league title. He emphasized that it was a pre-existing condition that he inherited and had no control over.

"I can confirm that despite winning the league, Jwaneng Galaxy will not be receiving any special grants. The grants for all the teams, including the champions, will remain equal. This means that the job is done, the league is complete, and all teams can look forward to enjoying the benefits of sponsorship in the upcoming season," Mamelodi said.

Regardless of the absence of prize money, Jwaneng Galaxy's determination and passion for the game were not diminished as they celebrated their hard-earned league title with enthusiasm over the weekend. The team, with its eyes set on a bigger prize, winning the league cup and securing a spot in the CAF Champions League, took the field with unwavering determination.

Having progressed to the group stages of the CAF Champions league this season and putting up a noteworthy performance, the team has shown significant improvement from their previous participation, proving that they can go further in champion’s league next season.

As Jwaneng Galaxy continues to celebrate their well-deserved league title, they are now gearing up for the upcoming Orange FA Cup Final against Orapa United in Francistown.

The Botswana Premier League is set for an exciting development in the upcoming season, with the injection of sponsorship from First National Bank (FNB). This new partnership promises to bring a much-needed boost to the league's financial viability and attractiveness to both players and spectators.
