Para-Athletes chase Paris 24 tickets

Botswana's para-athletics team is gearing up for the upcoming World Championships in Japan, thanks to the generous support from Debswana. As they set their sights on podium finishes, Team Botswana are not only chasing glory but also aiming to qualify for the imminent Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Kobe Universiade Memorial Stadium in Japan is all set to host the 11th edition of the Para Athletics World Championships from May 17th to May 25th, 2024. Among the nations vying for top honors, Team Botswana is sending a formidable squad of five athletes to compete on the global stage. Having departed for Japan this past weekend, they carry with them the hopes and dreams of a nation and eager to showcase their talents among the world's best.

According to a press release from Debswana this week, the championship serves as the primary qualifier for the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, making each event crucial for athletes eyeing the Olympic glory. 'Debswana's partnership with the Paralympics Association of Botswana underscores their commitment to promoting para sports in the country. By sponsoring talented para-athletes, Debswana not only supports their aspirations

but also helps in flying the Botswana flag high in international competitions,' the statement reads.

In their pursuit of excellence, Debswana has provided crucial funding and resources to support the para-athletes. Ensuring access to world-class training, equipment, as well as psychosocial and medical support, the sponsorship aims to empower these athletes to compete at their best. This initiative reflects Debswana's long-standing dedication to fostering talent and promoting inclusivity in sports.

Back in 2023, Jwaneng Mine hosted the first-ever Paralympic Games, featuring events like athletics, basketball, table tennis, and football. Debswana's involvement is therefore not new and provides platforms for athletes to showcase their abilities on the world stage.
