Gunners, Ghosts battle for survival
Both Extension Gunners and Holy Ghost are at risk of being relegated to the lower division, the two teams will be against each other in the fight they are quietly fighting, to remain afloat in the top tier league the Botswana Football League (BFL).
There is no denying that both teams have been flirting with the relegation for a long time now, and for Gunners it has been many seasons of hovering above relegation zone.
The two teams will lock horns at Lobatse Sports Complex this weekend with Extension Gunners playing hosts to the Ghosts in a battle to remain in the top tier league.
Only three points separate the two teams, Ghosts are at the basement of the log table with 7 points from 16 games while Gunners are just above them with 10 points.
Both teams have been porous in defense, Gunners has let in 26 goals while their opponents have seen 29 go behind their goalkeeper, both teams scored just 9 goals so far in the league.
In this game where both defenses are poor and the attacking is poor there is a sense and feel that there will be more goals scored in this fixture with both teams trying to find their scoring boots.
However, Holy Ghost will want to win their second game of the season, as they go into the game motivated after registering their first win against Mogoditshane Fighters.
The Mmopane based side will look to catch up with the teams that are above them and mount a challenge towards surviving the drop. One interesting factor will be the introduction of Philimon Makwengwe, who is believed to have joined Ghosts.
Makhwengwe parted with Gunners this season and it hasn’t taken him long to find a new home, however a win for him against his former employer will irk the Gunners fans to the core.
Moreover it remains to be seen as to who will win this relegation battle and move closer to surviving the drop, Prisons XI and Mogoditshane Fighters are also involved in the relegation battle.
