ON THE HUNT: Officer Commanding No. 2 District Paul Oketsang

Officer Commanding No. 2 District Paul Oketsang says they are on the hunt for thieves who broke into Lerala Fuel Station shop on Monday night, blast open the safe and went away with cash amounting to P30 000.

The matter was reported to the police on Monday morning after an employee of the filling station arrived for work that morning.

“The employee found that the back door of the shop had been forcibly opened and the safe appeared to have been blasted. All the money was gone, they are also missing stock of assorted sweets and drinks worth P1 000,” he said.

To date, the police have no leads on the culprits.

Oketsang pleads with members of the community to be on the lookout for anyone in possession of large amounts of money.

He said shop breaking incidents are of great concern around the Lerala area but they have not recorded blasting cases in the recent past.

He also cautioned shop owners to always have security personnel guarding their business premises, saying such assistance deters crime.
