Coach Morena Ramoreboli reportedly on his way out as the team can no longer afford him

Jwaneng Galaxy are reportedly in talks with a number of coaches as they hunt for someone who will replace the South African head tactician, Morena Ramoreboli.

Ramoreboli's contract with Galaxy comes to an end in October 2022. Sources close to the club dealings have revealed that Galaxy want to keep coach Ramoreboli but his wages are said to be very high for the club.

This publication has it on good record that the club has made contact with one of their former coaches, who is ready to make a return to Botswana.

In recent weeks, the outspoken former Township Rollers and Jwaneng Galaxy coach, Nikola Kavazovic has come out clear through social media to deny reports he was set to join Gaborone United; he however revealed that he was more than ready to rejoin Jwaneng Galaxy.

Nikola is also wanted by some of Township Rollers management but his torn relationship with the club's Chief Executive Officer, Bennett Mamelodi is said to be a stumbling block to make a third return to Mapalastina.

Ramoreboli guided Jwaneng Galaxy to a historic Caf Champions League campaign with the team making its maiden appearance in the group stages of the competition, after defeating Tanzanian giants, Simba SC 3-1 before their home crowd.

Contacted for a comment, the club’s Communications Officer, Tankiso Morake refused to confirm or deny speculations surrounding the future of their head coach.

“We are currently in break after a long season; the coach is back home to visit his family and we are expecting him back before the season starts. Whether he will be here or not I can’t comment on it, we will give an update after his return, for now I can’t make any comment,” Morake responded.

Reports suggests Ramoreboli is left with a year on his contract, but Galaxy are feeling the pinch of his high salary scale.

Probed further to give an update on the financial status of the team, Morake revealed that the situation is ‘stable’, but once again refused to make a comment regarding concerns over Ramoreboli’s reported high pay-cheque.

Prior to the historic achievement with the Jwaneng based outfit, Ramoreboli had led South Africa to a cup success, following their victory in the regional COSAFA cup tournament which was hosted in his home land.

Coach Morena Ramoreboli arrived at Galaxy as a consultant but was later given a short term contract after guiding Galaxy to their first ever Caf Champions’ League group stages.

Galaxy finished 3rd in the log standings of the Botswana Football League (BFL), 11 points behind champions Gaborone United. Ramoreboli’s side however, scored six more goals than the Reds, with Thabang Sesinyi topping the goal-scoring charts with 24 goals.
