Debswana Diamond Company has this week announced that its Corporate Security function, which has been ISO 18788:2015 certified since October 2022, will undergo re-certification in October 2025.
This international standard recognises Debswana’s commitment to professional, ethical, and effective security operations across all its sites.
ISO 18788:2015 sets out the requirements for managing security operations responsibly. It helps organisations build strong systems to deliver safe, lawful, and rights-respecting security services.
Through this certification, Debswana continues to meet global standards and ensure the safety of its people, assets, and stakeholders. Modiri Mosweu, Senior Security Manager at Debswana said, "Re-certifying for ISO 18788 is not just a formality, it is a reflection of our commitment to continuous improvement, legal compliance, and respect for human rights. It shows our stakeholders that Debswana’s security operations are held to the highest international standards."
Debswana Corporate Security is committed to conducting its security operations in full alignment with its responsibility to respect human rights, as outlined in the Security Operations Management System and guided by key instruments such as the Constitution of the Republic of Botswana, the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN), the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and other internationally recognised human rights commitments including the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).
